Inspiration: The Juliet

Inspiration: The Juliet

Hi everyone I am Kaitlyn Rose Younger, Designer/Founder of Elyssa Rose Swim.

The Juliet bikini from A Sea Escape Collection was inspired from the South of France, Film, and the famous French actress of the 60s, Brigitte Bardot.

Bardot starred in the film And God Created Woman in 1956 directed by Roger Vadim that was shot in Saint Tropez. This movie not only kicked off Bardot’s acting career but also put Saint Tropez on the map as well as the one and only Le Club 55.

The story goes, while in town filming And God Created Woman, the film crew stumbled upon a few cottages with a large wooden table out front on Pampelonne Beach. These cottages were built by Bernard de Colmont for family and friends. Mistaken for a bistro, the film crew asked if they would be able to eat at the cottages while they were in town filming. Bernard and his wife agreed to cook for the film crew despite having any running water or electricity.

This inspired the Colmont family to establish their cottages as a restaurant and just like that Le Club 55 was born in the year 1955.

Post production Bardot continued to return to Le Club 55 to enjoy simple and carefree summer days in Saint Tropez.

Today, Le Club 55 is famous for being Saint Tropez’s first and most legendary beach club on Pampelonne Beach.

The name The Juliet comes from Bardot’s character in the film. The fabric and silhouette were carefully chosen and designed for you to feel your most elegant and feminine while evoking the timeless allure of the South of France. The colors are an ode to Le Club 55s iconic light blue and white tablecloths.

Tip: Prior to heading to Le Club 55 in Saint Tropez be sure to call ahead to reserve a table in advance especially in the busy summer months. Don’t forget to pack your Juliet bikini. 😉
